Apple’s iOS 8 Enhancements
The
new version of iOS 8 was officially announced by Apple for their iPhone and
iPad mobile Operating system. The update comes with changes in design and
interface from iOS 7. iOS developers have used the same design language for iOS
8.
Some
of the noticeable changes are listed below.
Safari has new tab
views:
iPads get the same tab views from iphones, which also comes along with OS X
Yosemite sidebar.
Respond quickly: iOS 8 has the
ability to respond quickly to any messages from the Notification Center.
Favorite Contacts: We can place our
favorite contacts in multitasking view.
Management
improvements and Mail gestures: This is similar to a Mailbox,
with gesture based actions and better
multitasking within the mail.
Third party apps
responses:
Quick reply for apps like Facebook a third party app.
Continuity: This is similar to the continuity features
which comes under Yosemite.
Spotlight: has much advanced
features as OS X Yosemite which also includes Wikipedia and iTunes. This comes
as an in-build search engine along with safari.
Keyboard: iOS 8 has a feature
called Quicktype that is securely implemented, and cannot be accessed publicly.
iCloud Drive: This allows users
to work with documents stored in iCloud
across applications.
Healthkit &
health:
A health app that speaks about fitness and health. It is much advanced to show heart rate, weight and
much more.
Enterprise: A new enrollment
program in iOS 8 that enables easier usage of enterprise device.
Family Sharing: Connected by credit
card, this feature brings up to six family members together on iTunes, iBooks
and App stores. Apart from this it brings features such as calendar, family
photo streams, reminders and many more.
Shazam: Shazam is supported
by Siri for music recognition. Hands-free voice command “Hey Siri” helps users
to listen to music.
At
present iOS 8 is available only for developers and will soon be placed in all
stores for users.
